First Hackers/Makers Meetup

Member Tom Tongue has taken the bull by the horns, and organized a meetup!

In an effort to get a meeting going so we can build a maker community in the Capital District, and grow to a size where we could establish a Makerspace / Hackerspace, I've organized a Tech Valley Makers meeting for November 28th, 2012 at 7pm at Union College in the FW Olin Center - Room 107. We're going to have a general discussion about organizing and Makerspaces, and 3 presentations on projects currently ongoing. Details of the talks and a map can be found at

ALL are welcome, this is *not* a student-only event (indeed, Union is out of session unfortunately, so we'll miss some students this round). Please pass this info on to others who would be interested in becoming a part of the Maker community, or using a Makerspace!

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, let me know!

Meeting Videos on Youtube

I've been working on the audio for the video that was shot of the first meeting. It's audible and (mostly) understandable, thanks to some awesome processing by Wrightson Tongue Jr (thanks Dad!), and I'll be posting segments over the next few days.

Opening comments of the meeting can be found here
